“The deep structure of these practices, they’ve been around for thousands and thousands of years. It’s not the next fad. If they have value, they’ve had value for a very long time. That’s why they survived.” Jon Kabat-Zinn Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School “For hundreds of years, Western medicine has looked at mind and body as totally separate entities, to the point where saying something ‘is all in your head’ implied that it was imaginary. Now we’ve found how changing the activity of the mind can alter the way basic genetic instructions are implemented.”

"The Connection - Mind Your Body"Inspiring and important documentary
The Connection is a film about how frontier research is proving that there is a direct connection between your mind and your health. I was lucky to be invited to and attend the premier of this documentary at The Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. It has truly inspired and changed me - I started meditating daily and looking at my lifestyle in order to improve my health. As Shannon wrote, "...in order to change my health, I needed to change my mind." I am grateful that this opportunity was presented to me, I think you will be, too. - Thanks, Molly _ I urge you to see this documentary. Please take a few minutes to watch the trailer here |
Promoting Wellness and Relaxation in Worcester an interview with MassRealty by Kristen Bosse
With anxiety disorders being the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults in the United States, finding a safe place to relax and detox is more important now than ever. Many Americans turn to spas for a massage or a break in the hot tub, while others head over to their local Yoga studio. For years now, yoga studios have become a place of serenity for many overworked adults. Whether you choose to engage in an invigorating yoga class, or find a corner to meditate, you are sure to leave feeling refreshed and de-stressed. Buddha perhaps explained it best when he was asked, "What have you gained from meditation?" He replied with "Nothing. But let me tell you what I have lost: anger, anxiety, depression, insecurity, fear of old age and death."

One of the better-known yoga and meditation studios in Worcester lays right on scenic and tranquil Lake Qunsigamond called "Flowforms Yoga". Flowforms Yoga is a welcoming yoga community that offers warm, diverse and experienced teachers, classes, series and workshops for all levels. One of the unique things about this studio is the fact that it offers guided meditation included with some yoga classes. Those participating are encouraged to simply relax before or after their class. Molly Jackson, owner of Flowforms Yoga, describes the benefits of relaxing with meditation.
"Meditation helps one to relax by learning to quiet the mind, sweep away the outside world for a moment and connect with your inner (true) self. The practice helps to remove the clouds and negativity from one's mind towards the goal of gaining true relaxation and a sense of mental well-being. Some say they experience heightened energy levels and bursts of creativity."
Apart from meditation, Flowforms also offers a variety of yoga and pilates classes. There is something for everybody- all ages, all body types, and all fitness levels. In fact, Flowforms took second place as Worcester's "Best Yoga/Holistic Wellness Center" in 2014. With an honor such as this behind them, you know are getting quality service and the guidance of some of the best instructors in the area.

We are proud to be part of Worcester's wonderful, growing yoga community!
"... Although it is an ancient practice, and has been steadily gaining devotees in the United States since the 1960s, in the last 15 years its popularity, particularly in Central Massachusetts, has spiked.
Molly Jackson, owner of Flowforms Yoga located lakeside at 195 Lake Ave. in Worcester, addresses this increased popularity. “Yoga has been around for centuries, so it does have the power and truth to survive the ages. If it's more popular now, that speaks to people striving for better, more meaningful, more peaceful lives.” ...
...Jackson says yoga is about creating balance in the body, developing both strength and flexibility through exercise, breathing and meditation. “I have found that many people are drawn to try yoga for relaxation and stress relief. I have seen that students really enjoy their time here and find pleasure in their classes and yoga practice,”...
...With a focus on diversified style offerings and highly-experienced instructors with specific expertise, Jackson’s goal is “to create a warm, welcoming, comfortable studio with offerings suitable for first-time students trying something new, those interested in learning varied styles of yoga, as well as very experienced yogis with many years of practice.”...
...If you’ve never tried yoga, now may be the time to change that. It is really a very welcoming and inclusive tradition." ...Read more

Sarah found the balance she was looking for:
"... I left class feeling renewed and rejuvenated – I can understand why my classmates have become Monday regulars. I can’t think of a better way to begin the week than in a cozy lakeside studio with a gaggle of positive energy and an expert to guide me.
Flowforms Yoga emits the friendly approachability of Type#1 and the demanding rigor of Type #2, wrapped in a scenic sanctuary that is all its own." Read more
